Why Your Club Tournament Is Broken (And How to Fix It in a Weekend)

Seven things that go wrong at every member-guest weekend — and the one decision that quietly fixes all of them.

Every club tournament has the same seven failures.

We've watched dozens. The names change. The failures don't.

1. The scorecards come back illegible.

Pencils, smudges, three-way handwriting debates over whether that's a 5 or a 6. The pro shop spends two hours decoding hieroglyphics while the cocktail hour gets restless.

2. The leaderboard is a printout from 90 minutes ago.

By the time it's posted, half the players have already passed it on the way to the next tee. Spectators are guessing. The drama dies in transit.

3. Spreadsheet night.

Someone — usually the assistant pro, usually unpaid for it — stays until 11pm crunching numbers in Excel, manually applying handicaps, fighting a VLOOKUP. One cell is wrong. The wrong team wins. Nobody finds out until Monday.

4. The handicap arguments.

Half the field thinks the other half is sandbagging. The honest 12 feels robbed. The "12" who plays to a 6 wins the gross AND the net. The grumbling lasts until next year.

5. The weather doesn't count.

Saturday was 25 mph crosswinds. Sunday was butter. Both rounds count the same in the scorecard. The team that played the harder day finishes second and never knows why.

6. The winner reveal is a printed sheet on a corkboard.

At a $400/player event. With a $40,000 prize package. Announced like a meeting agenda.

7. Nobody can find the results next week.

Pictures of the printout get texted around. There is no permanent record. Next year, nobody remembers who won the C flight.

Here's the one decision that fixes all seven.

Run the event on a live, mobile-first, environmentally-aware scoring platform.

That sounds like a sales pitch. It is. But it also happens to be true, and we'll prove it:
